We are delighted to announce that for the third consecutive year, The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort & Golf will play host to 70 flight winners to determine the 32nd Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship Champion. In what has truly become a global event, participants from more than 25 countries are represented in the 5 day event.
“We look forward to crowning our champion at the Dye Club,” tournament director Jeff Monday said. “The golf course is among the best in America, and it’s a big-event facility. A field of nearly 3,500 golfers will be competing to earn a spot in the World Championship Playoff, and the Dye Club will absolutely identify the most deserving champion.”
“The 18th is one of Myrtle Beach’s best finishing holes. Measuring 415 yards from the member tees and 368 from the whites, No. 18 plays into the prevailing wind and water runs along the left side from tee to green. With the clubhouse veranda serving as the backdrop, it’s a fitting end to a top 100 round of golf and the World Am.” – Jeff Monday
Newly formed Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday Events will act as the tournament committee for the event.
The “granddaddy” of all such amateur golf events features 72-holes of stroke play competition, a exciting 18-hole championship playoff, lots of gifts and prizes, plus nightly parties and entertainment at the WORLD’S LARGEST 19th HOLE. It continues to be one of the best values in competitive golf.
50 of Myrtle Beach area golf courses will host the 72-hole event. More than 3,500 players are anticipated to make the pilgrimage to Myrtle Beach the “Golf Capital of the World” to partake in this year’s event. Players will be flighted based on age, gender, and of the game’s most thoroughly imposed handicap system. Dean Knuth a.k.a the “Pope of Slope” and the lead developer of the USGA’s Course and Slope ratings systems, collaborated with the tournament committee to institute scoring standards and fair handicap expectations.

Having played host to The Canadian Tour, the annual Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament, ‘BIG BREAK’ Myrtle Beach and the World Amateur Championship, we are continually humbled by the national exposure we have received throughout our brief 15 years of existence,” director of Marketing Rich Bartram, PGA said.
