The fourth episode of Big Break Myrtle Beach brought us the famous “flop wall” and concluded with a elimination challenge that brought drama and heartache.
The show began on The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort & Golf No. 6, a short par 3 lined with water encompassing the entire right side and heavy banks and bunkering to the left. The immunity challenge comprised of two five-player teams – captained by Katy Harris and Toph Peterson.
Katy’s Team: Tessa, Charlie, Emily, Christian
Toph’s Team: Jimmy, Carolyn, David, Anthony
Players took turns in a closest-to-the-pin contest. Team Katy prevailed and secured their berths to the next episode.
The five members of Team Toph split up, and competed against one another for the next challenge. They used the hole No. 9 and had to hit successive shots into a grid on the fairway between 50-150 yards. The catch was each shot had to further than the previous. Anthony led off by hitting nine shot in a row, only to be duplicated by the last player, Toph. He prevailed in a one-shot playoff against Anthony, sending him to his second elimination challenge.
Anthony Quezada was the shows tormentor on yet another episode. Throughout the show, he was regularly rooting against the other contestants and continually throwing pretentious remarks.
“It’s not talking anymore,” Quezada said.
The 19-year-old Phoenix native rose to the occasion once again. He has already faced a final elimination challenge in Episode 2, displaying his game by birding both holes of the two hole match to send Krista D. packing. For Episode 4 one-on-one elimination challenge, he chose Dave Markle as his competitor. Markle said “I wanted to play him and I wanted to beat him.” On the first hole of the head to head match, Anthony hit his opening shot in the waste bunker, which runs down the right hand side of the fourth hole at the Dye Course. A mediocre second shot left him with a thirty yard shot, which he proceeded to hit perfectly, finding the bottom of the cup for an extraordinary BIRDIE!
Dave struggled to a bogey, leaving him one stroke down entering the par 5, 5th hole. All Anthony needed was a par on the second hole to send David Markle home.Ultimately Markle’s back-to-back poor performances sealed his fate. On the bright side of his short stay, he did claim a $2,500 cash prize, courtesy of Macanudo Cigars on the second episode.
