This Episode brought us Barefoot Resort’s Love Course famed ruins with some great shots and a missed opportunity sent another contestant packing.
The first immunity challenge took place on No. 4 on our Love Course. The green is outlined by the faux ruins of an old plantation home. Players were tested to chip a ball through a window of the ivy-covered ruins which is situated to the right of the green. The goal was to get the ball in hole would in the least amount of strokes, with the top two be awarded immunity.
Everyone but Jimmy, who banged the ball off the bricks, everyone successfully chipped through the window but Jimmy whose shot ricocheted off the ivory-covered bricks. Proving a formidable challenge, Christian was the closest to the pin at 18 feet. The players closest to the hole went first and Christian, Toph and Tessa all missed their second shots. Charlie became the first player to earn immunity, draining a 23-foot putt, with Anthony being the second immune player, making a putt from off the green in typical fashion.
The second stage of the immunity challenge continued on the 4th hole with players chipping from off the green. The two shots closest to the hole would advance. Toph hit a brilliant shot ending up just 15 inches from the hole. Emily closely followed, ending up 20 inches from the pin and look like she too would secure immunity. Christian delivered by chipping in, celebrating proudly with a forceful fist pump.
Toph advanced with Christian, leaving Tessa, Katy, Emily and Jimmy still facing the prospect of elimination.
Tessa, Katy, Emily and Jimmy were sent to the sixth hole on the Love Course to fight on. Each player got two shots each starting from the tee box, with the player closest to the hole earning immunity. Each player would have the opportunity to take a mulligan after one of the two shots. All four players hit good drives that left them all with a second shot to the elevated green. Jimmy was first to play his approach and decided to use his mulligan and hit his second approach to 7’2” inches. Emily hit her approach shot to within six feet of the hole, which allowed her to win the challenge and advance.
Tesse finishing dead last at 16’11”, was sent to elimination and had choose whether she wanted to play against Jimmy or Katy. Tessa up to this point had secured immunity in the opening challenge of every episode. She elected to play fellow LSU Tiger Katy on the 12th and 13th holes at the Love Course. The player with the highest score would be sent home.
Both players made a par 4 on No. 12 and proceeded to the par 5 13th. Both players hit good drives, but Tessa’s second shot plugged in the greenside bunker. Katy followed by hitting her second shot left of the green and was faced a delicate chip. She left herself a 6-foot putt for birdie. Tessa hit a good shot out to 15 feet and then missed her birdie putt, leaving the match and her fate on the face of Katy’s 6 foot putt.
Katy could not capitalize on her opportunity and missed the putt, sending both players back to play No. 13 again. Both players again, hit drives in the fairway. Katy was 183 yards from the pin on her second shot and hit her ball long left of the green. Tessa playing from only 154 yards hit an outstanding shot, leaving her an approximately 15-foot eagle putt, straight up the hill. Katy’s chip screamed by the hole and left her 10 feet from the hole. Tessa admitted to us that her hands were shaken like crazy, lined up and drained her eagle putt! Katy’s Big Break Myrtle Beach experience came to a screeching halt after having a birdie putt the hole before that would have allowed her to advance.
Seven people remain…
