THE FAZIO COURSE

AT BAREFOOT RESORT

Designed by renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio, the Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort is one of the premier Myrtle Beach golf courses, offering a scenic championship golf experience in the heart of the resort. This par-71 layout stretches 6,834 yards and blends classic Lowcountry golf with modern course design, featuring towering live oaks, longleaf pines, native grasses, natural wetlands, and pristine lakes.

Unlike many traditional golf courses, the Fazio Course follows a distinctive European-inspired routing that does not return to the clubhouse after the ninth hole, creating a seamless and immersive golf experience.

Positioned between the Pete Dye and Davis Love III Courses, the Tom Fazio Course is widely recognized as the most visually stunning of Barefoot Resort’s four championship layouts. Golfers are challenged by tree-lined fairways, strategically placed lakes, expansive waste areas, dramatic elevation changes, and steep-faced fairway bunkers that reward accuracy and thoughtful course management. Every hole presents a memorable test, making the Fazio Course a favorite for golfers seeking both beauty and championship-caliber play on their next Myrtle Beach golf vacation.

Whether you’re planning a golf getaway or looking to play one of the area’s top-rated courses, the Tom Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort delivers an unforgettable combination of spectacular scenery, strategic design, and exceptional golf.

Tee and fairways feature GN-1 hybrid turf by Greg Norman Turf, while approach areas showcase Tif-Sport Bermuda grass and rough areas embrace 419 Bermuda grass. The greens, adorned with Champion UltraDwarf Grass, add the final touch to this exceptional golfing haven. Immerse yourself in the scenic splendor and strategic brilliance of the Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort.

Tom Fazio (born February 10, 1945) is a world-class golf course architect.

Fazio graduated in 1962 from Lansdale Catholic High School. He began his career in golf course design with his family’s firm in suburban Philadelphia, which he left in the 1960s; he established his own firm in Jupiter, Florida in 1972. He is the nephew of the late George Fazio, who often credited Tom with jump-starting his own career in golf course architecture.

Fazio has designed more than 120 courses and has more courses ranked among the top 100 in the U.S. than anyone else in the business. His individual honors include Best Modern Day Golf Course Architect, which he received from Golf Digest Magazine three times. In 1995, Fazio became only the second course architect to receive the highest recognition awarded by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America – The Old Tom Morris Award. No living designer has more credits on Golf Digest’s list of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses and Golfweek’s collection of America’s Best.

Fazio was inducted into the Lansdale Catholic High School “Hall of Fame” in 2007.

Is the Fazio Course Right for Your Myrtle Beach Golf Trip?

Fazio Course Guide

The Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf is a great choice for golfers who appreciate a traditional championship layout with a premium on accuracy and ball striking. Designed by Tom Fazio, the course offers a strong test while remaining enjoyable for golfers who select the proper tees.

Best for golfers who value accuracy

The Fazio Course rewards golfers who can keep the ball in play and position their shots correctly. Distance certainly helps, but accuracy and course management can be even more important.

Approach shots are a key part of the challenge

Well-protected greens and strategically placed bunkers make approach-shot accuracy important. Missing in the wrong location can make getting up and down difficult, while good shots are rewarded with scoring opportunities.

Expect a classic Tom Fazio design

The course features extensive bunkering, natural areas, water hazards, and excellent green complexes. Fazio created a course that looks challenging from the tee but gives golfers a clear idea of where they need to hit their shots.

A good choice for different skill levels

Multiple tee options allow golfers to choose a comfortable yardage. Better players will find plenty of challenge from the back tees, while recreational golfers can move forward and enjoy the same design without being overwhelmed.

Different from Barefoot’s other three courses

Fazio provides another distinct experience when paired with the Davis Love III, Pete Dye, and Greg Norman Courses. Playing multiple Barefoot courses allows your group to experience four different architectural styles during one Myrtle Beach golf trip.

A strong addition to a multi-round golf package

Fazio fits well into a three- or four-round Barefoot Resort itinerary. It provides a championship-level test that falls between the playability of Love and Norman and the more demanding challenge golfers typically experience on Dye.

Bottom line:

If your group enjoys a traditional championship golf course where accuracy, positioning, and approach shots matter, the Fazio Course is an excellent choice for your Myrtle Beach golf trip.
